VenuWorks Partners with Global Entertainment

VenuWorks, Inc. has announced a partnership with Global Entertainment Corporation in which VenuWorks will provide facility management as well as food and beverage services to future Global Entertainment facilities. SMG Contract Renewed For Lynnwood (Wash.) Convention Center

King to Retire

Dexter King is retiring from his position as president and CEO of the International Association of Venue Managers effective Sept. 4, 2011, 10 years after assuming the role of executive director of the association. He has been in the venue management business for more than 40 years.

Siehl Joins VenuWorks

John Siehl has been named to the newly created position
of director of Support Services for VenuWorks. Siehl recently retired as executive director of the Nutter Center at Wright State University in Dayton and serves as
chairman of the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM).

San Jose Team Chosen

Hunt Construction Group/Populous have been selected for the renovation and expansion of the San Jose (Calif.) McEnery Convention Center. The convention center, which opened in 1989, will undergo more than $100 million in renovation and addition work funded through an endorsement by local hotels agreeing to tax themselves in support of the project. The proposed addition will bring the convention center to more than 1.3 million square feet.

Pasadena Goes Gold

The Pasadena Convention Center was awarded LEED Gold Certification by the United States Green Building Council after undergoing a $150 million expansion that was completed in February 2009. Only the third U.S. convention center to earn a Gold designation, the venue adhered to green standards for energy use, lighting, water and material use. Contact: Michael Ross, (626) 449-7360
