Comments: The CMU Events Center is undergoing a $20-million renovation and expansion, funded exclusively through private donations. The university has announced three major gifts from long-time friends of the university that have resulted in naming rights opportunities.

The McGuirk family, local business owners and long-time supporters of the university, have donated $2.5 million. In their honor, the events center will be renamed the McGuirk Arena, according to Steve Smith, director of public relations for the university.

The basketball court will be named Kulhavi Court, after John Kulhavi, a former member of the Board of Trustees, who donated $1 million.
